TAPEMAPTAPEMAP will read a tape and produce a detailed report of the contents of the datasets it contains. It recognizes a variety of tape formats, including IEBCOPY, SMP, and IEBUPDTE. TAPEMAP is located in File #299 of the CBT tape and was written by Leonard D. Woren.
InstallationIn February, 2002 I recreated all of the CBT pages here on my site to distribute the software in source form, rather than the unloaded load modules which I originally created back when I started this site in 2000. Unfortunately, TAPEMAP will not assemble with IFOX00, so I have assembled the load module with IEV90 and you can reload that module to your own link library. According to comments in the CBT file for TAPEMAP, it could at one time be assembled with IFOX00 + Bill Godfrey's $$MACROX modifications (file #316). If you want to try your hand at modifying IFOX00 into AFOX00, I would be interested in hearing about your results. Since I have access to IEV90, it is simply easier to use that. The IEBCOPY unload dataset is contained on the AWS tape image tapemap.het. This file and the jobstream to reload the TAPEMAP load module - iebcopyr.jcl - are contained in the archive tapemap.tgz [MD5: 347898FB8571B3B496AE24061444EBAF]. Download the archive and extract the contents (WinZip on Windows/?? or tar on Linux). Submit the jobstream to restore the load module. As written, the target is SYS2.LINKLIB; if you don't have SYS2.LINKLIB defined, you will need to modify the jobstream to specify a target load library. Note: The load module must reside in an authorized library.
Executing TAPEMAPHere is example JCL to run TAPEMAP that was included in the CBT file:
The output from an execution of TAPEMAP used to process the base product tape for MVS 3.8j may be viewed at: TAPEMAP.SYSOUT. I hope that you have found my instructions useful. If you have questions that I can answer to help expand upon my explanations and examples shown here, please don't hesitate to send them to me:
